General Nursing & Midwifery

GNM stands for (General Nursing and Midwifery) and focuses on educating nursing students on the topics of general health care and midwifery. General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a three-year programme aimed to prepare students to work effectively as members of the health team.

This job-oriented programme comprises subjects like Nursing Fundamentals Anatomy & Physiology Psychology Biology Sociology and First Aid. The programme trains students to closely assess the nursing need of the patients monitor the condition of patients provide effective nursing care and assist the doctors in surgical procedures. The students learn to set up medical equipment in operation theatres and adeptly handle patients during emergency situations.

The aspirants are additionally trained to be job-ready by imbibing computer and interpersonal skills which help them in advancing their role. After successful completion of the programme the students are enrolled for an internship that enables them to directly gain hands-on experience in esteemed organisations. Through a culture of patient-first the students are encouraged to possess unique qualities of character and spirit.

Curriculum

The Curriculum and the Syllabus for the course shall be as prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council.

Minimum Education Eligibility Criteria For Admission To GMS:
  • 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from state open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government . However Science is preferable . Three (core eletive) subject marks may be taken for calculating the percentage of marks excluding the marks in English . Also , it has to be ensured the candidates has pass marks in English.
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre.
  • Registered ANM with pass marks.
